Outbound Marketing: Reaching out to your Target Market

Outbound Marketing: Reaching out to your Target Market

Even with the advent of inbound marketing which aims to ‘attract’ audiences instead of chasing them, there’s still a significant need for outbound activities. After all, deliberately reaching out to prospects isn’t just about hard selling; sometimes, outbound efforts help maintain the fluidity of other marketing campaigns.

Well, we can’t just wait for leads to come in. That’s a lot of opportunities to waste.

We all know that the product or services we are offering is not for everyone. How to target an audience is the main question before launching our product or service. But how do we clearly define who our target market is? And how do we reach out to them? Through this post, let’s identify and understand how to reach your target market.

According to a very insightful post at DuctTapeMarketing.com, outbound marketing can be used in different ways to spell success for a business. :

#1: Find a Guest Blogging Partner To Assist You

Finding a guest blogger to get instant PR and advertisement for your company is profitable. Having a guest blogging partner can grow your online efforts by publishing your article, infographics or any form of content to spread awareness to your target prospect. Find blogging partners with the same interest and who has similar niche topic as yours. Connect with them by highlight their post on Twitter, which will eventually make them return the favor by sharing your posts or simply reach out to them through email about you amazing written piece.

Aside from branding,  this will also send traffic back to your site and grow your search engine rank. Here’s a great way to start your venture on content marketing.

#2: Capture Your Target Audience Through Email

Utilizing a targeted list is the key to get results when using email for outbound marketing. Emails are cost-effective, traceable and can ensure higher response rate.  According to some survey, customers spend 84% of their time online to check on their emails. So sending out emails to your target audience is the best way to reach out to busy prospects.

However, the most important thing when sending out emails to reach your target prospects is the interaction between you and the reader. So make sure to have an interesting subject and create a template that’s appealing and will make them feel the need for your product or service.

#3: Use Social Media To Attract Customers

Customers spend most of their time on social network. And one way of reaching out to your target market is to ensure you are there when they are looking for your product and service. Social media is a cost effective and a direct way to engage to people online. Utilize LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and Facebook. Among these social media sites, you can start with Facebook as it is considered as the biggest in terms of monthly active users.

#4: Use Pay-Per-Click Campaign

Pay-per-click advertising is one way to create traffic to your site. It is also a way for customers to visit your website to see what products or service do you have that might be of interest to them. The key to success for this type of advertising is by finding the right keywords that your audience are using and that is also relevant to your product or services.

According to www.wordstream.com, PPC stands for pay-per-click, a model of internet marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Essentially, it’s a way of buying visits to your site, rather than attempting to “earn” those visits organically. It allows advertisers to bid for ad placement in a search engine’s sponsored links when someone searches on a keyword that is related to their business offering.

You may use Google Adwords Keyword Planner tool to check the average monthly searches of the keyword, it’s competition and suggested bid.

Outbound Marketing: Reaching out to your Target Market

So instead of waiting for your website to rank on search results, PPC is just a wise option to generate leads right away. It only takes strategic keyword targeting. Good news is Google has made some favorable changes with the PPC ads position, aligning them with organic search results.

#5: Through Calling

Calling your target prospect is the fastest way to reach out to your customers. However, in calling, you must have the right data for you to have an idea who makes the decision within an organization. You can also follow up those who inquire on your social media sites as well as those who leave comments and expressed interest on your website.

Being visible to your target prospects is important. Find out where they usually look for products online, whether through social media sites, websites or through blogs. Use different ways to reach out to them and don’t just focus on one as every customer is different. The key is you have to be where they are.

Inside Outbound Marketing: Tips to a Successful B2B Marketing Campaign

Inside Outbound Marketing- Tips to a Successful B2B Marketing Campaign

Given that there is a constant need for attention among B2B businesses, the advantages of outbound marketing techniques are still relevant.

This is not to say that inbound marketing has lost its appeal, but there is enough reason to believe that traditional marketing is still as vibrant as when it was first practiced. One of these reasons can be attributed to active demographics that still use radio and television, and are particularly used to telemarketing.

Especially when you pursue an extensive lead generation campaign, outbound marketing is still effective hand in hand with online marketing.

In this case, we are bound to know more about what else outbound marketing has in store. For the meantime, marketers must know about the ways to make outbound marketing succeed where inbound marketing couldn’t.

Social research. Here, we must consider that by knowing more about our market, we can determine more accurately the most effective approach in achieving our campaign goals. As is always maintained, we can never come up with a complete and honest representation of individual preferences. Diversity remains a challenge. But marketers must leverage diversity to gauge prevalent trends, the information of which is crucial in identifying general trends.

Personalized deliveries. With so many prospects thriving within your target market, it poses much difficulty on your part. This is mainly because you couldn’t possibly satisfy everyone. However, possessing relevant knowledge about your potential buyers, you can build content around a general illustration of the industry. Also, you may need to consider subgroups of your target demographic and tailor content specifically for such groups.

Creative branding. The idea behind branding is simply to give your product a face, and not to mention a name that can stay within consumer culture. Wisely investing for brand awareness is apparently an important facet of outbound marketing. Of course, this goes beyond creating a nifty logo or churning out well-written flyers. Make sure that you always mold your image in a way that your prospects can effectively recognize you.

Manage your resources. Marketing dissonance can best be summed up by rifts among the departments of your enterprise. And indeed, the only result is a poor ROI. As a leader, make a personal commitment to hold the organization and coordinate with your team without actually micromanaging.

Four tips seem too few, but they are nonetheless important in making a success out of your B2B marketing efforts.

The Greatest Marketing Strategy Question: Inbound or Outbound?

The Greatest Marketing Strategy Question: Inbound or Outbound?

The Greatest Marketing Strategy Question: Inbound or Outbound?

Coke and Pepsi have been battling for the best cola title for more than a century now, and both soda behemoths continuously struggle to beat each other not just on the aspect of product development but marketing strategies as well. Thus the rivalry could get so personal at times, taking things to a wider rift like exposes of product ingredients, comparison on marketing expansion across continents, merger, and creation of sub-beverage brands.

Apparently, the marketing strategy issue “which marketing strategy works best: inbound or outbound?” is no different from the cola war. Each has its own argument to prove best over the other. Let’s take a look at Ironpaper’s short notes first on both strategies and some statistics to see who reigns in the marketing world.

Outbound includes outdoor advertising, direct mails, trade shows, seminars, email blasts and cold calling. Marketers push their message out to draw target customers in and is quite hard to measure.

Inbound Marketing, on the other hand, uses content marketing, blogging, and social media to bring possible customers into their business, and which is easy to measure.

And when we compare statistics on how marketing experts perceive these two competing strategies, Inbound has the upper hand:

InboundOutbound
Marketing efforts are effective68%48%
Gave A Higher ROI46%12%
Produces sales-ready leads59%16%
Lead generation has improved over the year59%16%

Although Outbound was the pioneering marketing strategy in the world of business, current data shows that more marketers now prefer to use Inbound tactics. The decline in Outbound marketing popularity and usage is due to the rapid rise of social media which allows brands to take advantage of “real-time marketing”, as per Hubspot.

However, we cannot completely ditch Outbound due to reasons below:

  • Consider mixing the two strategies when expanding into a new geographical region to cater both digital and traditional customers
  • Outbound, though deemed to be more costly than inbound marketing, has magical effects that leave images or tunes in the customer’s subconscious for a long time, e.g. Coca Cola vintage Christmas ads

Inbound marketing may have taken toll over Outbound, but despite its dominance, the fact remains that outbound can’t yet be taken out of the marketing picture because some experts still believe that it is the best marketing strategy for their type of business and apparently look at each strategy with pros and cons.

So, what’s the best cola for you? Pepsi or Coke?
